Got reminded that SubscribeStar is a site that exists. I wonder if people are more willing to support artists (in general, not just me) through there compared to Fanbox, even if the monthly sub cost would end up higher. Can't really match ¥100-¥300 (~$0.75-$2.25) tiers on a service that operates in USD and tells you to not make tiers below 3 to 5 dollars.
I tried looking into the site and it also seems way more complex for me to manage, with their TOS/account settings page talking about needing you to submit tax forms and bank details. And them only allowing payouts after you reach some threshold of active subscriber count and collected payments means there'd be little point in me setting it all up if I never reach that and actually receive the money myself. Fanbox has auto-payment every ¥5000, but also lets you manually pay out while under that, which works fine for a smaller artist like me.
